Sangamon County Jail is a 736-beds regional correctional facility in Springfield, Illinois. It houses about 654 inmates under the supervision of over 142 staff members. The Sangamon County Jail is operated by Sangamon County Sherriff, Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Federal U.S. Marshal, among other major agencies. Consequently, in addition to housing local offenders, the Sangamon County Jail holds more than 537 federal inmates daily. The largest population of inmates here are men, with just 18% of them being women.

Sangamon County Jail was founded in and named after Springfield, a popular associate justice at the Supreme court of Illinois.
