Montgomery County Jail is a 725-beds regional correctional facility in Independence, Kansas. It houses about 649 inmates under the supervision of over 125 staff members. The Montgomery County Jail is operated by Montgomery County Sherriff, Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Federal U.S. Marshal, among other major agencies. Consequently, in addition to housing local offenders, the Montgomery County Jail holds more than 531 federal inmates daily. The largest population of inmates here are men, with just 18% of them being women.
